In nineteenth-century America, black people do not have many rights, they cannot do many things that the white people can do. This biography tells us the inspiring story about Audrey Faye Hendricks, a fearless, confident and brave nine year old girl who volunteered to stay in jail to help accelerate the ongoing civil rights movement.

This book explores the many rights that were taken away from the blacks in the 1950s and 1960s. It shows the immense courage that Audrey shown at the tender age of nine. It shows that because of her and a thousand more other children and teenager’s actions, the civil rights Act was submitted and passed. The blacks in America then have equal rights with the whites in America, changing the lives of people with different needs and skin color and making us all equal. The book includes an author’s note, illustrator’s note, and bibliography.
